Cheesy Movies That Rock

Last Wednesday all my favourite comics came out but I've only managed to see scans so my reviews will have to wait.

In other news, Camp Rock came in the U.K. on Friday. So I headed around to my friend's house, grabbed some popcorn and got comfy - ready to watch it. Within the first five minutes, I was hiding behind my cushion cringing but that was to be expected because the movie is made by Disney.

I like Demi Lovato's voice and her acting was good considering the fact that Camp Rock was one of her first big projects. Her character Mitchie was slightly annoying but she was realistic which I find is one of the most important things for a character to be.

The rest of the cast were pretty decent. I loved the actress who plays Ella - Anna Maria Perez de Tagle (long name!), and I never knew that she had such an amazing voice. I nearly fell off the bed when I saw how much Alyson Stoner had changed. Her facial features were recognizable but she really has matured. The actress who played Tess annoyed the hell out of me but I think that was the point.

One of the main let-downs of the film was the length (only an hour and a half) and the fact that the Jonas Brothers were barely in it. Okay, Joe was the lead male character but Kevin and Nick probably only had 5 minutes screen time. I only wanted to watch the movie for them so that was a real let-down.

There's not much to say about the plot because it's pretty simple: girl goes to camp, lies to become popular, meets boy, lies to him as well, everyone finds out that girl has been lying, boy and girl fight, girl is upset, all is resolved, girl and boy get together. Everything was predictable but it's meant to be a children's movie so a complicated plot is out of the question.

In conclusion, the movie rocked. The soundtacks were catchy, the cast was above average and it was a generally entertaining film. I'll definitely be wanting to watch Camp Rock 2.

Homework calls to me, I'll review more another day.
